definition:

A comb filter is a filter that has a comb-like frequency response; it has quite a recognisable 'ringing' or, at lesser resonances, a plucked-string quality which is due to the delay line in the algorithm. This effect implements a 'bank' of six comb filters in parallel.

Samples that are noise-based seem to work best with the comb filter bank, as they allow all the filters to 'ring through'. Try this effect for 'speaking chords', turning water drops into plucked-strings and other flights of fancy.

parameters:

Frequency: The frequency for each filter in the bank can be changed by clicking on the piano keyboard. If you wish to enter this value directly in Hz, then you can press the command key while clicking on the keyboard.
Resonance: The percentage with which the comb filter is 'fed back' upon itself. A large value (90%+) has a very audible 'ringing' quality, while smaller values engender a more subtle colouration of the sound.
